MPG Calculator

MPG calculator is used to calculate how many miles per gallon a car would cover. It also calculates the total cost of fuel for a trip. Gas mileage calculator estimates your fuel expense on a daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly basis and suggests the best mileage for you to save a certain amount of money. If you want to go for a trip, you can calculate your fuel mileage by using this miles per gallon calculatorwhich means you don't have to worry anymore for the cost of your next trips.

In this post, we will explain how to use our fuel mileage calculator, what is gas mileage, MPG formula, how to calculate gas mileage, average miles per gallon, and much more.

How to use our mpg calculator?

To use the fuel mileage calculator, follow the below steps:

  • Enter the beginning and ending odometer reading
  • Enter number of gallons pumped this fill
  • Enter the local cost of 1 gallon of gas
  • Enter the average miles driven in a specific period
  • Press the Calculate button to calculate gas mileage

It instantly calculates the MPG for you and gives you the daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly gas expense.

What is gas mileage?

The gas mirage is the relation between total distance covered and your fuel consumption. The consumption of gas depends on several factors. This includes your, production year, car model, driving efficiency, and size of your engine. The fuel consumption of your car is important to know to keep track of your fuel expenses.

Miles per gallon formula

The following formulas are MPG formulas. You can calculate your MPG in miles as well in km per litre by using these equations.

\(\text{MPG} =\dfrac{\text{distance covered in miles}}{\text{average gas consumption in gallons}}\)

\(\text{MPG} = \dfrac{\text{distance covered in km} \times \text{average gas consumption in liters}}{100\text{km}}\)

How to calculate mpg?

If you are wondering how to calculate miles per gallon or what's my mpgwe have got you covered. MPG estimation can be a bit tricky, but we will explain how you can calculate your MPG. Follow the steps below to calculate your average mpg.

  1. Fill up the tank of your vehicle and note down the total number of gallons.
  2. Note down the odometer reading at the beginning of a trip.
  3. Note down the odometer reading at the ending of the trip.
  4. Fill up your tank again and note down the total number of gallons. This amount is the amount of consumed fuel.
  5. Subtract the beginning reading from the ending reading. This is the total distance you have travelled.
  6. Divide the total distance by the total number of gallons consumed or place values in the above formula to get the MPG.

What is a good average miles per gallon?

It really depends on your car type and travelling. If you are travelling on a highway, \(25\)  miles per gallon is considered to be a good average miles per gallon. On the other hand, \(20\) is considered a good average if you are driving in a city.

How many miles per gallon does a Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid get?

According to EPA, the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid can attain \(35\) mpg in highway or city driving. It can achieve \(90\) MPGe with its electric components.

How much is \(1\) MPG in l/\(100\text{km}\)?

1 miles per US gallon is equal to \(235.215\) litres per \(100\) kilometre. The mpg to l/100km can be estimated by multiplying \(235.215\) with the total number of miles per gallons.

How much is \(1\) MPG in l/km?

1 miles per US gallon is equal to \(0.4251\) kilometre per litre. The mpg to l/km can be estimated by multiplying \(0.4251\) with the total number of miles per gallons.
