Adult Self Report Scale for ADHD

Mental issues are different in nature than physical ones. In addition to that, they affect humans in a different manner. ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) is one of the common mental disorders experienced mostly by teenagers and children. It is more appropriate to say that this problem is initiated in children and teenagers. In terms of probability, boys have higher chances of facing ADHD issues than girls. People who suffer from ADHD have different signs. A common one is a hyperactive attitude. Such people are active and overly talkative. They would simply start singing or talking suddenly even when there is no need to do so. In an overall manner, they are energetic to an abnormal level.

Loss of attention and focus

ADHD patients find it very hard to pay attention on day to day tasks. For instance, if you talk about college students, if they are suffering from ADHD, they are unable to focus on even the basic tasks in class. For instance, let us go through an example. If a teacher asks a college student suffering from ADHD to read a line from the book, he would not be able to do so. This is because the required level of concentration would not be there. On the other hand, if you talk about a normal student who does not have ADHD, this problem would not be there.

Diagnosis of ADHD

A simple fact is that the success of medical treatment depends on how well the diagnosis has been done. If the medical issue has not been diagnosed properly, the treatment would not be successful according to expectations. ADHD scale score can be effective when diagnosing ADHD.

If you talk about dependable calculators that can diagnose ADHD in a clear manner, the ASRS V 1.1 is one of the best options available for you. The calculator has a series of questions for which answers have to be provided. Let us go through the steps of using this calculator and checking whether you are suffering from ADHD or not.

How to Calculate ADHD Score?

  1. ADHD Test comprises six questions and each of them has five options. These options are basically severity levels.  For each of these questions, the user has to select from “never”,  “rarely”, “sometimes”, “often” and “very often”. For instance, the first question is whether you have problems wrapping up a project after all the challenging tasks have been completed. For this question, you have to select from the five severity levels.

  2. The second question is related to the difficulty of getting things in order. ADHD patients find it hard to arrange things when they are present in a haphazard manner. The user has to select from the five levels given as options. In the third question, the user is asked about whether he faces problems in remembering appointments and other similar things. For this question as well, the user has to select from the five levels provided as answer options.

  3. The fourth question is related to the delay that occurs when a challenging task has to be initiated. Similarly, the 5th question requires the user to provide details about the frequency of fidgeting. In the last question, the user has to provide details about how much feels overly active or faces an internal compelling attitude.

  4. Once all the questions have been answered by the user, the total score is calculated by ADHD Medication Calculator. The possibility of ADHD depends on the user which the user has scored. If the ADHD score is less than 4, the probability of ADHD is less. Similarly, if the Adult self report scale score is 4 or more, the patient should undergo further medical examination because the probability of ADHD is high.
